Do You Need Help Learning Spanish?

Do you need help learning Spanish?

Chances are if you landed on this site then you may have been asking yourself that very question.

When you first thought about learning Spanish, what are some of the things that came to your mind?

Maybe it was one of the following:

  • “How cool would it be to learn a new language like French, German, Italian, or how about Spanish?”
  • “Sweet, now I can order my food from the local Spanish restaurant and they will understand me instead of when I speak in my usual Spanglish. “
  • “Learning a second language will look good on my resume”
  • “When I travel, I won’t look like an idiot when I don’t know how to speak Spanish”
  • “Maybe now I can start dating some Spanish Speaking Girls”

But, I seriously doubt that any of the following ideas were what came to your mind:

  • “Improve your cognitive skills”
  • “Keep your brain young and healthy”
  • “I will be one of a couple hundred million who speak Spanish”

All three of these ideas that I just listed above are good ideas, maybe even great ideas, but in all honesty, they also have one very big thing in common.

What is that you ask?

They are all extremely  “BORING” and don’t in any way (shape or form) get you excited to learn. If anything, they make you want to turn around, run the other way and do something, anything else.

spanish nouns - boring

Let’s be honest here when you’re younger, did you honestly ever care about improving your cognitive skills or keeping your brain young and healthy? Maybe you should have, but deep down inside you know these things did not really matter. If they did, we would all have purchased the most boring safe car out there and we’d all be content doing the old 9 to 5 and not trying to find something better.

So, do you need you to think you need help learning Spanish?

The fact of the matter is that learning something new; especially a new language like Spanish is not going to be easy and can actually be very hard and extremely frustrating once you get past learning a few words and numbers. I am not going to give you any statistics because they are usually skewed anyways, but I can only guess that most people who wanted to learn a new language like Spanish and did not have a strong enough reason why they wanted to learn or do it, quit soon after starting.

And why do you think that is?

Well, I think that the reason why most people quit before mastery is that they either became bored or frustrated and they just gave up. They thought I will take a few classes (free online) or read a book (free from the library) and that I will learn to speak Spanish in no time.

Then reality kicks in like a freight train and they realize “O my God, this is not as easy as I thought and I actually have to work to get what I wanted” and then soon after, they go “You know what, this isn’t for me” and like every other thing they started in the past, they throw up their hands in the air, walk away and say what they have said many times before.

Do You Need Help Learning Spanish

But it doesn’t have to be that way. When you look at the following quotes listed below, what comes to mind? I will tell you one thing that definitely does not come to mind. Quitting.

“If You Fail to Plan, You Plan to Fail” By Benjamin Franklin

“Measure twice, cut once,” By Alistair MacLeod, Island: The Complete Stories

“Do or do not, there is no try” by Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back

So how can we (and yes that includes me too) succeed in learning Spanish, when we may have failed so many times in the past? How can we push through the walls that we have created by ourselves and not give up this time? How can we (once again, me included) follow through this time and achieve the goal we have set out for ourselves?

Useful Tips on How to Learn Spanish

Have a plan of action.

Choose to set up a path that is easy to follow and have it laid out before us.

Always important, look before we leap.

Ask ourselves why we really want to learn this new subject.

Believe in our hearts that we can succeed.

Accept and truly believe that failure is not an option.

Don’t wait another hour, another minute, or even another second putting off what you know you want to do.

You know what, I have a better idea.
